2026 editorial shortlist
Cards with No Annual Fee
Earn real rewards without paying a cent to carry the card.
You don’t need an annual fee to earn solid rewards. Several no-fee cards match or beat premium cards on everyday spending — the tradeoff is fewer travel credits and lounge perks, not lower earning power.
These editorial shortlists compare published reward rates, annual fees, spending caps, and practical usage constraints. They are not personalized optimizer rankings, and affiliate relationships do not determine the ordering.

Tips
A flat-rate card with no annual fee is often a useful "everything else" card — pair it with a category-bonus card for the spend categories you use most.
Sign-up bonuses on no-fee cards are usually smaller than premium travel cards, but since there’s no annual fee to offset, almost the entire bonus is pure profit.
Fidelity’s 2% rewards only have full value if you’re already using (or willing to open) a Fidelity account — otherwise a simpler 2% cash-back card may suit you better.
"No annual fee" doesn’t mean "no benefits" — several $0 cards here still carry purchase protection and extended warranty coverage from their card network.
Complete setup
Cards selected for one category rarely make the strongest modeled overall wallet.
These editorial picks focus on no annual fee, but the modeled combination depends on your total spending across every category. The optimizer models eligible combinations and tells you whether its result was proven optimal within that run's inputs or was the strongest valid setup found before timeout.
