Editorial standards

Editorial policy

The standards behind our research, guides, comparisons, and card data.

Editorial standards

OptimalCardSetup publishes explanations, comparisons, and modeled results to help readers understand credit card tradeoffs. We aim to distinguish verified terms from estimates, assumptions, and community-reported rules. Material limitations belong near the claim they affect, not only in a site-wide disclaimer.

Our guides are published by OptimalCardSetup, a product of Fortesen LLC. Learn more about the company on our About page.

Sources and verification

We prioritize issuer websites, card agreements, benefit guides, and other first-party materials for rates, fees, credits, eligibility rules, and availability. Articles identify observation or verification dates when a time-sensitive term is central to the analysis. Readers should confirm current terms with the issuer before applying or acting on a benefit.

The optimizer has a separate, documented process for turning card terms and user assumptions into results. See our Methodology for the model, objective function, proof status, data sources, and known limitations.

Editorial independence

Affiliate compensation does not enter the optimizer’s objective function. Affiliate link data is stored separately from card reward rules, and cards without affiliate relationships can appear alongside cards that have them. Our Affiliate Disclosure explains how the site may be compensated.

Updates and corrections

Credit card terms change. We update card data and editorial content when we verify a material change. A correction should fix the inaccurate claim and, when the change materially affects the article’s conclusion, add a visible note describing what changed. Our public Corrections page explains the process.

Reader responsibility

Content is educational and is not individualized financial, legal, or tax advice. Approval, eligibility, redemption value, and benefit usefulness depend on circumstances the site cannot determine. Issuer terms control if they differ from information shown here.

Report an issue

To report an outdated term or factual error, use the Card Data Correction category on our Support page or email [email protected]. Include the page URL and, when possible, the issuer source that shows the current term.
